Afternoon,

I was wondering if someone can please help me out.

I am using Windows Deployment Services and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit to play around with deploying Windows XP Sp2. I managed to create the LiteTouchPE_x86.wim which the client can boot from the WDS using PXE, now this works fine and boots on a NEC with an onboard Realtek NIC but when I try to boot the same PE image from a Toshiba Tecra A2 which uses an onboard Intel Pro/100 VE NIC it doesnt work and bombs out at the command prompt after attempting to load wpeinit. after opening the wpeinit.log it generally shows that its stuck on "installing network components" and "installing network drivers"

Now I have tried injecting different drivers into the LiteTouchPE_x86.wim image using PE Tools Command Prompt, all to no avail the same thing happens. I have also then loaded the drivers into the deployment workbench and updated the deployment point thus creating a new LiteTouchPE_x86.wim and again the same thing happens when I boot the image from WDS over PXE?

Drivers I have used are the latest Vista and XP ones from intel.com which I have extracted from the exe's and injected as above.

Can anyone help as I really want to get this up and working but as quite alot of the clients here use pro/100 cards I am starting to think this may not be possible.

Cheers in Advance.

So a quick update on this, I have downloaded the drivers from toshiba eventually and mounted the image using PEtools, I then created a folder in the mounted directory called drivers\lan in here are the toshiba intel pro/100 drivers. I then unmounted the image and booted from it over PXE. again it bombed out. at the command prompt I browsed to the drivers\lan folder and did the following.

drvload e100b325.inf - this failed with a 0x error

so tried

drvload e100a325.inf - this actually returned that the driver loaded successfully.

So i thought great I have found a driver that works with the card so I deleted all the drivers in out of box drivers and added only this one's inf, I then updated the distribution point so a new WIM file was created, I booted from this and same issues. I open the wpeinit.log and the last line entered is

Info Spent 7150ms installing network components
