First off, wanted to say this is a very slick forum. Keep up the good work!

I've been testing the various new Microsoft deployment methods (WDS, BDD, AIK, etc) and now finally starting a production rollout of each. I've done WIM captures using WinPE perfectly fine in the past but all of a sudden I'm running into a unique issue. When I boot WinPE and run wdscapture, my machine locks up and loses all network related information when I click Connect for selecting my WDS server to upload to. Very strange. I confirm via Shift-F10 and bringing up another cmd and doing an ipconfig that I have a DHCP  address. I also confirm I can ping my wds server. But as soon as I hit Connect, I go back, do another ipconfig and my DHCP address is gone! Obviously, I can then no longer ping anything.

When wdscapture.exe times out trying to connect to the WDS server, my IP information returns!!! Very weird again. So basically, I'm trying to find out what wdscapture is doing to my NIC card\settings when its trying to find my WDS server. I'm running this on a HP DL365G1 that has a Broadcom NetExtreme II NIC. (I had to add the NIC to my WinPE image.) Also, I'm using the original WinPE image that came with the AIK.

 Thanks for any help!!!

I had a simliar issue and resolved it by getting the NIC drivers from braodcomm vs. the OEM (HP) website.

Hope this helps

Yes, I fought with the drivers for a while as well but I ended up using the Broadcom monolithic drivers. Still no dice. Very perplexing. I'm trying to blame it on a possible speed\duplex issue but I can't even figure figure out what speed\duplex it is set at. Can it be set manually? I've tried using the PENetCfg utility but it won't tell me anything about speed\duplex.

Thanks!

I'm not sure about setting the speed/duplex as I never had to address that before.  I can tell you that the network jacks I used where always set to auto.
