Good Morning,

I am trying to image a new IBM T500 laptop via pxe connection to MDT 2008. Pxe will load Winpe and prompt for user id ,password and domain. Then error" Invalid credentials: the network path was not found". I have added the correct nic drivers to out of box drivers directory and updated development point (LAB) restarted server and tried to image via pix connection but same message came up. All other work stations and laptops image fine it's just T500. Also I am unable to ping MDT server any suggestions would be great!

hmmm, sorry if this annoys you but it sounds like a driver issue to me :)

Just out of interest did you update the deployment point and choose "Update (files only)"....? Because you'lll need to choose "Update" and re-create your LiteTouch WIM and ISO files. Then of course you'll need to replace your current WDS WIM file with this new one which will have the NIC driver you have added to Out-Of-Box drivers....

Hi C Barrett,

I did choose update and then tried to reimage the laptop. So the end result will be an new image just for this laptop? If so is there a way to keep the same image we have for all laptops and just inject the drivers? You have to excuse me but me and MDT 2008 just met a couple months ago..

Thats good news Brian, glad to help :)

Just so that others can "decipher" my post more easily (as I just re-read & had trouble understanding myself!), when you update your deployment point choosing "update (files only)" does just that - only the task sequences,customsettings.ini etc are updated.

When you choose "Update" your WIM & ISO files are also recreated (along with updating the TS etc) - thats why "Updating" takes much longer to complete.

Therefore if you add a new driver to Out-Of-Box-Drivers you'll need to re-create your WIM/ISO if the driver is needed by WinPE - as in Brian's case the NIC driver is required to connect to the deployment point.

Generating your WIM/ISO also means that you'll need to use this new boot media - so replace your boot image in WDS with your new WIM, re-burn your deployment CD with the ISO file or replace the files on your bootable USB Key by extracting the contents of the ISO....

Hi Brians,

I have been trying to get the T500 working in WinPE for over a week and are exited to here that you have got it working.  If it is not too much trouble could you please confirm a couple of things for me:

1.  Which nic driver are you using, the Lenovo one or Intel one?

2.  What is the version of the e1y5132.inf file you are using?

3.  What version of WinPE are you using?  I am using WinPE2005.

4.  Are you using an SMS OSD'erised WinPE or the one straight out of MDT?

Your reply would be much appreciated.
