| Hi all, I have configured MDT 2008/WDS to remote install on various laptops. I will be adding various laptop models to the MDT server as time goes on. We have approximately 8 sites across the UK and I would like to know what’s the best way to get the deployment working at these locations? What would i need to install at the other locations? What folders would i need to replicate from the main server to these locations? Kind Regards | | | |

| Every one! please don’t all post at once! lol
OK this is what i was thinking after doing some digging around on this forum.
i can copy my deployment share across to the sites i want to do the deployment. I will install WDS to deploy the WIM images from the share. My question is how will the image know where all the distribution share files are, scripts, etc?
Must be someone here that can point me in the right direction!

| Okay. Where to Start.
This is actually fairly easy im running 10 different locations right now syncing data via DFS, works like a charm. Create a Folder on each one of your servers called MDT. Under that folder you will have your Distribution point folder ( distribution$) and your WDS folder (remoteinstall). Setup your DFS to Sync the MDT folder on whatever time scale you would like. Only other thing you have to setup is your bootstrap.ini to reflect the correct Distribution point (DeployRoot=\\%WDSServer%\Distribution$). And depending on your network and subnets you might possibley have to use an IPHELPER to route traffic to your WDS server since pxe boot requests are not sent over subnets automatically. | | | |
