I know this is a topic everyone has had to deal with at one point or another... I thought I had it figured out a long time ago but for some reason now, I am having no luck getting a Server 2003 unattended install working on a VMWare Server vm (not ESX). The mass storage driver just will not plug n play itself correctly. Is there anyone that can give me a solid confirmation how you are doing this? I'm using the vmscsi.sys 1.2.04 driver and I also have the must up to date LSI Logic scsi driver. I've tried to break down WinPE and the unattend.txt to the most basic level but not having any luck.

Thanks for any help!

Donnie-

I ran into this exact issue. How I got this working was by actually omitting the VMware mass storage drivers from the build process and only adding them to WinPE. So, with Windows Server 2003 you should not need to inject this into the build. However, with XP -- I find that you will have to add the mass storage drivers.

Let me know if that works,

Mike
