I have decomissioned my old MS deployment server. I was running Microsoft Deployment on it. I now have MDT 2008 (4.0.383.0) installed on my new deployment server.

I copied the distribution share from the old server to the new one and walked through the wizard, and it looks as if everything is setup. When I try to network boot from WDS, using the lite touch boot image generated from updating my deployment point (Lab dist. share), I get the following error message:

A connection to the deployment share (\\oldserver\distribution$) could not be made. The deployment will not proceed.

I have verified that there are no issues with the NIC driver. I was able to map a drive to the correct share without a problem. I have added the deployroot variable to the rules tab on the properties of the deployment point and to the bootstrap.ini file. I updataed the deployment point and added the new image to wds but still get the error for the old server path. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try to refresh your LAB deployment point (not files only)? Then import the new generated WinPE 2.0 to WDS.

Yeah, definitely. I just figured out m problem. The particular machines I was working with had not completed the task sequence completely. After deleting the C:\minint and c:\_smstasksequence directories, I was able to connect to the new server with ease.
