Hello,

I've created a custom .wim file for Vista Ultimate.  I've captured it fine and imported into MDT2008 as usual and created a task sequence (though not sure why I have to do this).  When I deploy the image usuing MDT 2008 it seems to run an OS install.  I even see it copying files, expanding (for a long time) etc.  When it's finished it seems to be like the captured image but it seems to have to use the unattend.xml file which seems illogical to me.  I think I remember with BDD 2007 deploying a Windows XP image and the process says "deploying image" and took only about 6 minutes but with MDT 2008 Vista seems to take as long as an OS install.  Just a FYI, the way I'm tesing this is by using a Media deployment point and mounting the lite touch.iso it creates and mounting that on a virtual client using vmware.

I tried deploying the .wim using imagex /apply and it worked fine and fairly fast but the steps involved are a bit tedious and I thought MDT2008 was here to make our lives easier

Am I doing something wrong?  In the task sequence Install section it does have the custom .wil file selected as the installation OS.

thanks
