Hello, and first off sorry if this has already been posted.. I have looked through and done a search and could not find anything on this...

We are currently using MDT2008 to deploy a Vista image, we have created a build and captured an image.  During the deployment of the image we experience various issues that we have address, but one that seems to be the thorn in the side...Joining the Domain..

For some reason when it reaches the task sequences to join the domain, it keeps the machine in a work group and we have no idea why.  We already had an Vista image created before using BDD2007 and had no problems, we are using the same code in the task sequencer to add to domain but for some reason this just does not work..

The more buffling issue using just a Windows Vista SP1 WIM this works, but anytime we add the capture image it fails..

Any ideas how to resolve?

Try using DOMAIN\User format for your credentials for joining the domain? I ran into that issue too and it worked for me. It was for WinXP SP2, but it's worth a shot.

Currently using MDT 2008, I am testing the deployment method of the capature image.

In the capature I have set up a Task Sequence for the machine to join the domain, the user id and password are correct as these have been tested.

You can't capture an image that is being joined to the domain. What you should do is 2 task sequences. One to build out the image, but simply join a workgroup and then another that deploys your WIM capture and joins the domain.

Hello,

I had the same problem & found out from a "Deployment Guy" that you need to use the FQDN.....so for example:

test.domain.com

rather than just "TEST" (if that's your netbios domain name)

Hope this helps
