I am new to sysprep.  I have not used it or even looked at since the Windows 2000 days.  As I am tasked with preparing a Vista SP1 image, I am looking at sysprep as the only solution.  While we use Ghost Solution Suite (which has Ghost Walker), I have chosen the sysprep method.

Is it possible to create an unattended install that also does the sysprep in a single answer file?  It looks like I might have to create an unattended answer file and then call a script that performs the sysprep that uses its own answer file.

Ralph,

First, I suggest that you use Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2008 to build your Windows Vista with SP1 images. It handles the whole Sysprep thing for you automatically.

Second, things have changed a great deal since Windows XP. There is more-or-less a single answer file for all configuration passes (setup phases). You'll use the same answer file to drive Sysprep that you use to build the image. I do recommend that if you're going to do this without MDT 2008, you read throught the Windows Automated Installation Kit User's Guide pretty thoroughly before moving forward.

Best, Jerry

Understood. We are doing a lot of research to get ramped up on the new tools. Part of the problem is trial and error of figuring out which settings needs to be configured and it what pass.

For example, we just discovered Pass 1 is not even processed by sysprep.
