I have my Vista Sp1 image set up as a removable media deployment point, which obviously creates an iso that you can burn to a cd / dvd to install from. The probelm i'm running into is my iso image is 5.1 GB which is too large to fit on a standard dvd. I can burn this image on a dual layer dvd and it works great for all the newer machines, but some of the older dvd roms can't read dual layer disks. Does anyone know of a way to either spit the iso image into two parts so i can burn it on two different dvd's and have it prompt for the 2nd disk or a way that i can compress the iso to fit on one dvd.

why is it so big? drivers? If drivers, might need to setup a seperate driver store on another dvd? I use a DVD as the boot and store all my drivers and apps on a usb drive, when the installer needs it, it prompts for me to insert the drive and pulls down the required data. I use a custom vbscript to achive that though I have't done it yet but eventually i'll be setting it up to boot off the usb drive, although you run into the problem with some of the older pc's not taking usb.

At the end of the day building an image from a dual layered DVD is slow. Your best option without forking out loads on USB hard disks would be to purchase. An 8gb USB 2.0 flash drive and stick your depoyment files on there. you can format it to NTFS and it will deploy your image in under 10 minutes. (you can pick them up for about £10.00 in the UK) which is about $5. for the laptops that the bios does not recognize usb 2.0 you can use a cd to boot. browse to your usb media share\Content\Deploy\Boot you will find a file called LiteTouchPE_x86.wim burn this to cd. advise the user to stick the usb hdd in and boot off that, if they cannot get it to boot put the cd in as well and boot from the cd instead. It will then boot into Windows PE 2.0 and that will recognize the USB.
