Dear experts,

i have succeded in deploying XP SP2 using MDT 2008, after that i went to capture the dployed OS using the capture option in the MDT 2008, i then tried to install the OS using the captured image once more using MDT 2008 but it failed loading the windows and generated a blue screen of the following error: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Check your mass storage devices. Was the stop error 7B?

I had the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME bsod with one model of hardware and I think it turned out to be the so-called "uber bug". If you're not familiar with the bug, it's caused by incompatibilities between XP, Win PE 2 and some BIOS chips.

If this is the problem, you just need to enable the task sequence step:
Preinstall > New Computer only > Set Diskpart BIOS Compatibility Mode

(by default this step is disabled)

Thanks Konrad,

it worked fine,

i have another q. and i hope you could help

i use an xp sp2 DVD image created by MDT 2008, my corporate PCs have only 1 hard disk partitioned as follows

C: "OS" 25 GB

D: user's data 124GB

the windows crashed and i've to boot from the DVD

how can i adjust the bootable DVD using the task sequence in MDT 2008 so as to only format the C drive that containes the crashed OS so as to deploy my customized image and keep the D drive that containes the user's data untouched??

please help
