I've just about HAD IT with this. I need to create a custom WinPE 2005 image that contains the SATA hard disk controller drivers and works with Windows XP. I'm using SMS 2003 and MDT 2008. Every guide I have found out there has not worked for me. It seems like I find conflicting information everywhere. Does anyone have or can you point me to a guide that will show me how the heck to do this?

Why do you need to use PE 2005 why not use windows PE 2.0 ISO thats created from MDT 2008.

From microsoft deployment toolkit, Expand Distribution share and out of the box drivers. Import your Mass storage drivers.

Then if you have not already done so expand Deploy and Deployment points and create a deployment point.

Select the windows PE tab of your new deployment point. Tick Include all mass storage drivers.

Update your deployment point.

Your windows PE ISO will be located in \\mdtdeploymentserver\distribution\boot\x86

otherwise you can check this link out http://blogs.technet.com/benhunter/archive/2007/06/29/bdd-2007-intel-mass-storage-drivers-iastor.aspx

I created a Lite-Touch deployment point but there are no ISO files in the folder you mention. Am I doing something wrong?

Rightclick your deployment point. Go to Winpe tab and make sure you tick " Generate a Lite Touch bootable Ram disk ISO image"

I'm sorry, I didn't explain what I wanted very well. I've got the iastor drivers working for Windows PE 2005, I ended up completely blowing it away and starting over from scratch and it worked this time.
