Hi All,

I have WDS in mixed mode. I have a big problem. Everything works fine but for some reason the service needs to be constantly restarted if I need to image a computer. I get some kind of Boot\BCD file cannot be found.

If I restart the service everything works fine. I can get the boot menu and its great. If I try to image a second machine the service must be restarted as well. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere. I've tried to uninsall the WDS component and reinstall without any luck.

Please help.

i've found that somehow, the DFS replication will require the service restart due to some files been "Caught" by the DFS system, please try disabling replication and if it solves the problem

MDT Guys, any help ?

I do recall this was not an issue when I did not have DFS replication. I know this was not an issue when using RIS. There must be a fix for this. I have multiple sites with WDS now and it makes everything easier to manage using DFS.

Does anyone have a fix?

Hi djpaul81,

I had this problem on two of my smaller servers, as in desktop PCs pretending to be a server. The 1st problem was solved by adding RAM taking it up to 4GB and upgrading the CPU to a E4550 Core 2 Duo and setting the drives up in a raid 0. While my collegues and I are not set on what sorted it, I believe a bit of evrything helped but if you want true burst speed, Raid 0 is what I believe fixed it.
The second server was running a VIA chipset, I accidently slipped and killed it with my scre drivers. Now it is a very happy intel 945.

I also had this problem on a customers server, it turned out something in the RAID 5 setup was causes weird unexplainable problems that know had ever heard of before. Like yours... :) solution raid 0 and a backu up device.
