Hey,

Encountered a new problem. To fix the BDD login page where you are prompted for credentials to the share, I added the pingback solution to give it a little more time to connect to the share. That part works great btw.
In an attempt to also streamline the deployment more, I unchecked a bunch of TS from the "deployment" deployment point so that only a few would populate the list.

Problem: I updated both deployment points and rebuilt the PE images and now when I boot to a deployment no task sequences appear and it gives me the error that none are present, or that the Tasksequences.xml is empty/unvailable. Even though I only edited one of the bootPE's no task sequences appear when I boot to _either_ deployment point! PANIC :)

Troubleshooting:
- The file (tasksequences.xml) is present and it does reflect the changes I made in selecting which TS's to appear.
- File permissions are normal, and those have not been changed.
- In the deployment point, all the TS's are present with a few of them checked off to be visible.
- updated all deployment points (full update)
- rebooted the server (desparation)

any ideas?

Morning,

Update: After much hair loss, a couple bottles of booze and some tears I have fixed the issue -- sorta.

Based on my understanding, there was/is a time lag between Workbench updating the changes I had made -- even though I had updated both deployment points (full). This morning I created a test TS under my "build" DP just to see if it updated TaskSeqeunces.xml for that DP. I updated that DP (files only) and updated my second "Deployment" DP (files only).

I loaded up a machine, PXE boot, and chose the "Deployment" DP and the list was still empty with the same error.
I went back to the workbench and opened up the deployment DP, and all of the TS's were _unchecked_ even though last night I had about 3 of them checked off.
I updated Files only again on both DP (probably just needed to do one of them) and re-ran wpeinit.exe and shazam! The TS's I checked off appeared in the list. Success!

Summary: I apologize for the convoluted response here but I am still not entirely sure what went wrong or how it was fixed. Needless to say it was either
1) a time lag for workbench to sift through the updated TaskSequences.xml
2) the creation of a new TS to toggle the update of the TaskSequences.xml
3) a combination of both.

If anyone else encounters a similar problem let me know as I did a lot of digging last night between my glasses of whiskey.

Joel

I spoke too soon... still coming up with no tasksequences.  Back to the drawing board.

In case anyone's wondering, I fixed it.

Update: Fixed it.
After all the testing and retrying, I found out that one of my TS was the problem, so anytime it was added to a DP it would cause the listing to fail completely.
The TS which was a custom XP image I had made was using was using a Vista Install as it's OS. Not sure how that got in there, but once I changed that out and updated the DP's it worked.

moral of the story, make sure your TS's are good, and add the TS's to your DP one at a time until you find one that's the problem.

Joel

Hey, Joel!

Now that you've proven that you're IT competent, how about settling down already?

News is California has already lifted the ban on same-sex marriages!

Since you've OUTTED yourself to your family and friends, you and you're boyfriend can finally tie the knot.

When you find the time to travel from Singapore to the U.S., lemme know so I could arrange everything for ya.

Peace!
