Hi,

I have deployed a Vista business with many applications and I would like to make a reference computer with it.  I have activate the capture option.  When the installation has finished, the sysprep is executed by LTI on my computer and the computer reboot.

The problem is that computer has reboot on the mini-setup rather than the Windows PE to capture the image.  What is wrong ?

Thanks for your help.

Steve

I know people have gotten this to work, and maybe one of them can help you. However, I've found that it's a boatload easier to just use a generic WinPE image and make the deployment and capture manually. The only thing possibly gained from automating this step is consistency, which as long as you have good documentation should be fairly easy.

I have always used ImageX to capture my XP images and have never had an issue importing them into MDT or getting them to work. Can you try another method to capture the system?  Run sysprep manually with the following command c:\sysprep\sysprep.exe -mini -reseal -shutdown.  Then boot to PE w/ ImageX disk and run Imagex /compress maximum /capture c: c:\Vista.wim "Vista Reference Image".  I've been told by MS to capture to the C first, then copy the WIM out to network share otherwise you might have boot partition issues.  Let me know if you want to try this or if you need further details.

I captured many Vista images using the task sequence prior to doing XP images. There was never any issues- Are you using MDT 2008? BDD 2007? What's your custom settings ini like? You could try a new task sequence without anything but the OS deploy in the task sequence to narrow down where the problem is. That would eliminate some stuff, does the task sequence end without errors? The machine will, after the image is captured, re boot to mini setup  and then end the task sequence- Is there a wim file in the captures folder on the distribution share?
