We publish news and announcements about Deployment Forum, Windows and application deployment, the IT industry in general, and of course, Microsoft and its technologies. Examples include new product releases, changes to the Deployment Forum community, and so on. The News Articles tab contains formal news stories, while the Discussion Forum tab is a more informal space in which to discuss news and announcements.

Deployment Forum Relaunches as an ASP.NET Application
Jerry Honeycutt has relaunched Deployment Forum as an ASP.NET application. The goal is to provide a more robust experience and enable our members to contribute even more to the community.

Deployment Forum was originally launched as an ASP application. However, as the membership grows and the limitations of ASP begin making it impossible to provide a great experience, we've re-launched Deployment Forum as an ASP.NET application. Specifically, Deployment Forum 2.0 is built using DotNukeNet, an open-source framework for building ASP.NET applications.

Deployment Forum is the member-driven deployment resource for IT professionals. Our members use automated techniques to deploy Microsoft Windows in businesses containing from a few hundred seats to many thousands of seats.

In the Deployment Forum community, IT professionals share their expertise with other IT professionals. They share high-level ideas like best practices and methodologies. They also share specific solutions, including scripts, templates, and so on.

Some IT professionals are prolific enough to earn MVP honors. At Deployment Forum, MVPs share their experiences through individual blogs. They self publish articles in the Library and proactively participate in the forums. MVPs have demonstrated a commitment to helping other community members.

A myriad of deployment tools are available. Deployment Forum focuses primarily on the tools that Microsoft provides, including the following, but content about third-party tools is more than welcome:

  • Application Compatibility Toolkit
  • Business Desktop Deployment
  • System Center Configuration Manager
  • Systems Management Server
  • User State Migration Tool
  • Windows Automated Installation Kit
  • Windows Deployment Services

We've moved existing content from Deployment Forum 1.0 to Deployment Forum 2.0. However, we have not moved existing user accounts and forum messages. We prefer that users recreate their user accounts in Deployment Forum 2.0 so that they can choose display names and configure their profiles for themselves. The forums on Deployment Forum 1.0 will be available for a limited time, until the new forums gain traction.
